KCA Self Portrait Paper Figures
Each student in KCA created their own 2D full body self portrait with mixed materials-paper, yarn, fabric, buttons, glitter, etc. The paper figures are linked together, as if they are holding hands in a circle or globe, in a frame.
This beautiful piece features photos of KJE children, in a mandala design, on canvas.
KMA Perspective
KMA's class project touches upon one of the first assignments completed this year. Students were asked to draw something about what people see when they look at them and then to draw something about them that people don't see when they look at them. This project builds on that, becoming a special framed abstract piece that represents KMA's collective Perspective.
IJE Wall Tapestry/Hanging Quilt
IJE created a wall tapestry/hanging quilt picturing the outside of Friends Seminary-the old Schoolhouse building, Hunter Hall and the main entrance with the two trees overhanging. Images of leaves and birds were woven into the tapestry. The children were sent home with pre-cut leaves and birds to decorate, and they wrote their names and their favorite place in the school building on them.
There is a removable rod in the back, so the tapestry can also be used as a quilt.
IJK Collage
The children in 1JK used collage materials to assemble their own elements of a neighborhood, which came together in a single collage of their community.
Friends and Forks! A recipe book full of love, photos and fun food made special by 1MA.
Recess together. Lunch together. Meeting together. This year's 2M class project embraces the theme of being "Better Together."
Each student created macramé leaves that are all together on a branch. Classmates selected the colors they wanted to use and made their own patterns. There are 18 knots on each leaf, one for each student in the class.
The leaves are attached to a canvas and the canvas is secured to a UV-protected acrylic shadowbox frame.
2O Photomosaic Print
In the late 60s and early 70s, during the Apollo moon missions, a series of photographs were taken of the Earth from the vantage point of the moon. They were the first color images of the Earth and inspired many to appreciate both the beauty and frailty of our planet. These images are widely regarded as some of the most influential photographs ever taken and credited with driving the rise of the environmental movement.
2O created a photomosaic composed of pictures submitted by the 2O family to help recreate the impact of the original photos.
2T's Wheel of Friends
2T created their own Wheel of Fortune! Using 18, pie-shaped wedges made of wood, individually painted/decorated with each student's name and self portrait, the "Wheel of Fortune" can be easy reassembled on a lazy Susan mechanism. The finished piece is intended to be hung on the wall to make for a "wheel of fortune" piece of art!
3C's Monarch Butterflies
Using student recreations of a monarch butterfly, this beautiful piece of artwork incorporates 3C's Monarch project into their auction submission. Each student was assigned a color pair, and drew their own small monarch butterfly. Each butterfly was collected and reassembled into a larger butterfly, with small butterflies creating a collage in the background.
3Jessica's Favorite Things
This project consists of a lovely picture with spots where students drew or wrote about their favorite things at school.
3John Cyanotype Collage
Students in 3John created a collage out of cyanotype paper, which uses sunlight to create images. The students used things they found in the park (leaves and branches, etc.) as well as butterfly objects (focusing on the monarch case study that the children did in class). Once completed, it was assembled to create a collage that was framed. Although individual pieces, the artwork "came together" into one wonderful piece.
Grade 4 Memory Quilt
This is your chance to bid on the beautiful memory quilt! Fourth grade students each designed a square of the quilt, reflecting their favorite memories from Lower School.
